Treatment of telangiectasias (spider veins) and rosacea

What happens during a laser session?

The doctor carefully passes a laser handpiece over the zone of rosacea or telangiectasias. Protective goggles are worn by both the patient and the doctor during the session that lasts an average of 20 to 30 minutes. Repeat sessions are often required, spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart.  A maintenance session may be necessary from time to time.

A healing cream is applied to the skin at the end of the session.

 After laser treatment…

Redness (erythema) and a sensation of warmth develop very rapidly at the sites of rosacea or telangiectasias treated by the laser. Slight edema and temporary whitening of the skin become visible around the treated zone.

Starting the second day after treatment, small crusty scabs often form and must not be removed.

Temporary changes in skin coloration (lightening or darkening) sometimes occur during the weeks following treatment.

The zone of rosacea or telangiectasias treated by laser must not be exposed to the sun for one month after therapy.
