Principle of Botulinum toxin (Botox)

Injections Toxine Botulique ou botox

Botulinum toxin is indicated for the treatment of facial expression lines (wrinkles of the upper face):

  • frown lines (wrinkles between the eyebrows)
  • crow’s feet
  • forehead wrinkles

By relaxing the muscles, thereby re-equilibrating facial dynamics, and stopping the evolution of facial expression lines, botulinum toxin creates a vibrant, wide-awake look.

Certain pre- and post-operative instructions must be followed:

  • Avoid taking aspirin during the 8 days prior to treatment.
  • During the 6-hour period following treatment: do not rub the treated zones, avoid sun exposure and other sources of heat, do not wear a motorcycle helmet, do not participate in sports activities, do not lie down or bend the head forwards, do not sleep after the session, do not take an airline flight the same day…

All necessary recommendations and instructions will be explained, and your informed consent must be obtained in writing before treatment.

A follow-up visit is obligatory 15 days after the injection.

Other indications

Botulinum toxin can also be used to treat severe underarm sweating in both women and men.  Results last an average of 6 months.

The necessary intervals must be respected between injections.
